Painter Performs 11-minute Miracle at Festival of Lights Gift Show

DEERFIELD, IL -- This Chanukah, Jews everywhere will celebrate the miracle of a drop of oil burning for 8-days at the Jerusalem Temple.  In commemoration of this miracle, painter Elliot From will perform his own miracle of light and color – using only his hands, he will create fascinating portraits of famous rock icons accompanied by their signature tunes – all in 11-minutes.  This performance will take place at the upcoming B’Nai Tikvah Sisterhood Gift Show, November 18, 2007, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, at Congregation B’Nai Tikvah, 1558 Wilmot Road, Deerfield, Illinois

From has taken performance art to a new level with his unique musical, visual painting style, unveiling the energy and passion of his subjects.  Throwing  paint to a musical accompaniment, he creates portraits of famous rock icons such as John Lennon with only his hands.  To see his talent in action, visit Artbeatlive.com.  This unique performance art will join other vendors at the upcoming Sisterhood Gift Show at  B’Nai Tikvah,  which will showcase jewelry, purses,  books and children’s toys, scarves, and other wonderful gifts for holiday shoppers.  Refreshments including ice cream, and a raffle will also be part of the festivities.

The B’Nai Tikvah Sisterhood Gift Show was started by past President Nikki Milin after 9-1-1, who felt compelled to support the community after seeing this terrible tragedy.   Opening the phonebook, she invited local vendors to help bring holiday cheer.  The gift show has grown from 15 vendors, to the more than 40 which now participate.  Twenty percent of all funds from the fair are contributed  not only to the Deerfield Jewish Community, but globally as well, helping fund such activities as synagogue renovations, children recreations, and donations to Israel.

The B’Nai Tikvah Sisterhood serves the community by supporting Torah Fun of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism, as well as sponsoring the Feed the Homeless and other local programs.
